KINDRED YOGA STUDIO

Kindred Yoga is a project very dear to my heart as I designed it for Katarina Rayburn who has been my teacher and friend for a number of years. When she asked me to design her new space I jumped at the chance, knowing that with her charisma and expertise there was no doubt the Studio would be an incredible success. The Studio is in Deptford in an industrial glass fronted unit just off the main road. We wanted to create an oasis of calm and community, with an urban jungle vibe, filled with plants. We wanted the space to feel warm and fresh and I was inspired by the tropical chic feel of green and pink, rattan and concrete. We decided to use a beautiful whitewashed timber for the heated studio floor, and carried this through into the whitewashed beachy timber kitchen and the plywood shelving and fixed seating. The reception is bright and welcoming; rattan chairs, emerald green Zellige tiles with a copper pipe trim, concrete and copper pendants and an abundance of macrame plant hangers suspended from the ceiling with copper piping.

The bathrooms are sexy - baby pink wall tiles and grey hexagonal cement tiles on the floor. Copper piping toilet roll holders, more copper and concrete pendants and copper porthole mirrors over suspended sinks - everyone wants to take the bathrooms home! Created by Amy made the striking graphic wallpaper design and brand theme, Another Kind created the Logo graphics and the gorgeous upholstery was by Sharp & Simpson. It was an honour to shape this space and it brings me endless pleasure to see it thriving and bringing together a wonderful community. I also get to teach there!
